Mechanical Engineer I
Work in a fast paced environment to support state of the art microwave subsystems for use in high reliability military applications. Primary responsibilities include the mechanical design, analysis, and packaging of electro-mechanical systems. Other responsibilities will include manufacturing support, the design of tooling to support operations, and
assisting senior mechanical engineers on related tasks.
Workon multidisciplinary teams to develop mechanical layouts and designs for electro-mechanical systems used in military applications
Generate detailed layout models utilizing SolidWorks and DraftSight and create fabrication drawings and other documentation
Perform mechanical analyses, such as thermal and structural, to validate designs
Support testing activities to verify design integrity
Develop and design tooling and fixtures
Prepare and present information to internal and external customers
Support manufacturing lines with day to day support as required
BSME with 2 years experience in a high tech industry
Intermediate experience with 3D modeling software (preferably SolidWorks) and a 2D CAD package such as DraftSight or AutoCAD
Basic understanding of machine shop processes and other metal fabricating processes
Intermediary understanding in the fields of machine design, materials, heat transfer, and vibrations
Candidate must have great communication skills, both written and oral and must be able to coordinate efforts and work closely with a wide variety of groups within the business
US citizenship and ability to obtain DOD security clearance required
Minimum 2 years experience in a defense related industry
Some experience with electro-mechanical packaging with an emphasis on adhering to weight and thermal constraints and requirements
Basic understanding of FEA modeling software such as SolidWorks Simulation, COSMOS, etc
Experience with RF interconnects and connectors, cables, and related hardware
Basic experience interacting with machine shops and related metal fabrication vendors
Some experience with an enterprise wide PLM system such as Enovia, Agile or equivalent
