Principal R&D Engineer
Cobham is seeking a Principal Engineer to develop innovative solutions to demanding microwave subsystem requirements for the defense industry. These requirements encompass a wide range of considerations including electrical performance, reliability, manufacturability, Size, Weight and Power (SWAP) and cost. The desired solutions would provide significant improvement over many of these requirement areas while ideally being applicable to multiple sub-systems.
Collaborate with design engineering, business development and company management to determine key technical problems that require solutions that will further the company’s technology and product offerings
Support the development technology roadmaps and plans to provide technology solutions that the meets the company’s needs
Execute R&D plans to design, build and test proof of concept hardware to demonstrates innovative technology solutions
Present status and results of R&D efforts to internal and external customers
Aid in communicating technology plans and solutions to internal and external customers
Support proposal efforts for R&D and development contracts
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
10+ years design experience developing microwave subsystems such as frequency converters, synthesizers, transceivers and datalinks
Skilled using circuit and EM simulation tools including Keysight ADS, AWR Microwave Office and ANSYS HFSS
Experience with Windows based Microsoft Office suite
Strong oral and written communication skills for effective interface with engineers, management, suppliers, and customers
Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
GaAs or GaN MMIC design experience
