Opportunity for an Emergency Room (ER) Veterinarian in Rock Hill, SC
Carolina Veterinary Specialists (CVS) is looking for an overnight Emergency Room (ER) Veterinarian to join our growing team of doctors and staff.
Carolina Veterinary Specialists has three locations in the Charlotte metro area, and we are planning to add a fourth location in September 2017. The Matthews practice is in Southeast Charlotte. The Charlotte location is in Southwest Charlotte. The Huntersville location is in Northwest Charlotte. The Rock Hill location is just south of Charlotte. All are 24-hour hospitals with Emergency, Medicine and Surgery services. Matthews also has Oncology, Cardiology, and Neurology. Charlotte also has Ophthalmology. Huntersville also has Oncology, Behavior, and Exotics.
All of our practices draw cases from the Charlotte metro area, as well as communities as far as 90 miles outside of the city. We have your typical urban and suburban clients but also serve a large rural population.
All locations have a CT scanner, digital radiology with a PetRays account for radiology review, full in-house Heska lab work capabilities, coags, and handheld lactate. We can run Idexx Cortisol as well. We have excellent ultrasound machines, full endoscopy capabilities, as well as laparoscopy.
Each hospital runs a different ER schedule, based on the number of doctors at each location, and times during which they are typically busy. Charlotte, Matthews, and Huntersville all have interns working in the practices, helping with some ER shifts.
At all of our locations, our Emergency vets handle the vast majority of the routine after hours emergencies. However, we have an on call Internist every evening and weekend. They are mainly on call for truly emergent endoscopy (I’ve called folks in for tracheal foreign objects!). Mostly, patients are stabilized by ER and transferred to Medicine in the morning. Our ER vets handle surgery that is ER related – wounds, GI Foreign Objects, GDV, hemoabdomen. There is always a surgeon on call for procedures that are out of the scope of the ER service, or if the ER service is simply too busy to go to surgery.
Our referral services include Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Cardiology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Behavior, and Avian/Exotics. Our ER veterinarians provide a complete range of surgical services including orthopedic, oncologic, thoracic, and reconstructive surgeries. We work closely with the other specialists at CVS to provide the most thorough treatment possible. CVS prides itself on offering the latest in advanced technology and unparalleled ER expertise.
