Engineering Operations is looking for a leader to establish and execute Continuous Improvement (CI) objectives and strategy within Core Engineering with extension to areas within Programs, Engineering and Test (PE&T).
In addition to the essential and additional functions of the position, The Continuous Improvement facilitator will be responsible/accountable for:
- Leading the CI Subcommittee within Engineering.
- Identifying and leading complex CI projects.
- Developing/facilitating lean/CI training events.
- Providing coordination/facilitation of company business goals within the PE&T structure via the Strategic Business Priority process.
- Representing Gulfstream on the General Dynamics CI Working Group.
The successful candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Project, SharePoint collaboration software, and process mapping tools such as Microsoft Visio. A six sigma black belt is strongly preferred.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Masters degree desired. Verified Green or Black Belt Certification. If the selected candidate holds a green belt certification they will be required to be black belt certified within one year. Four (4) years of process improvement or related experience.
Lean Six Sigma (LSS) is a major tool in Gulfstream continuous improvement strategy. The Lean Six Sigma Facilitator will help in the optimization of training, processes, methods, and utilization of Continuous Improvement resources. The LSS Facilitator will report directly to the Director(s) of the functional area in aiding the development and execution of business unit continuous improvement objectives and projects and will include coordination with other continuous improvement leaders and the Six Sigma Program Manager. This role will also require regular presentations to all levels of Gulfstream management in the development and execution of Lean Six Sigma projects.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions: 1. Responsible for facilitating the development and execution of the functional areas continuous improvement objectives in support of the business unit operational goals. 2. Help develop and sustain a continuous improvement culture in which employees are empowered to improve the processes they support. 3. Provide assistance as a resource to the functional area(s) in focusing on identifying projects by value stream/ critical metric events that are high value opportunities for improvement. 4. Work with functional departments, Finance and other members of the organization in assessing, tracking and reporting the progress and financial benefit of Lean Six Sigma projects. 5. Coordinate and track training of continuous improvement resources 6. Assist in the assignment of current and future resources on projects that bring the greatest benefit to the business unit and organization. 7. Provide management with project status updates, feedback, and appropriate reporting on selected projects via the Lean Six Sigma project tracking system and/or other methods.
Additional Functions: 1. Identify and work to remove barriers that slow or prevent the successful attainment of process/productivity improvement and administrative efficiency. 2. Actively work to strengthen relationships between/ within the organization(s) to promote communication and best practices. 3. Perform other duties as assigned. 4. Some travel may be required.
