ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: Perform intake duties, conduct searches, interview juveniles, possess good assessment skills, prepares paperwork, release, admission, juvenile evaluations, distributes meals, supervises showers, participates in group, provides extra supervision for juveniles with special needs. Visually/audibly supervises juveniles.
Maintains a clean facility, complete minor maintenance, reports issues. Responds to emergency situations, interacts to diffuse aggressive youth. Maintains safety and security. Complies with department and county policies, procedures and regulations.
Exercises good judgment, adequate degree of control in supervision of youth, ensures thorough communication with team members, resource to the community and families.
Maintains CPR/First Aid certification, participates in training, answers multiple phone system, attends department meetings and trainings, demonstrates positive attitude, maintains punctual and regular attendance, Demonstrates positive attitude, maintains punctual and regular attendance, establishes and maintains positive relationships with co-workers, Juvenile Dept. staff and with other agencies.
Maintains compliance with the Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS) policies, standards, and procedures. Required to obtain LEDS certification within 90 days of hire. Knowledge and skill in the use of computers and computer programs including Outlook and the Internet.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of college with course work in corrections or a related field; AND must have two years of experience dealing with juveniles in a detention facility, group home setting, or in working with juvenile offenders; OR any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the work described.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Class C Oregon Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record. Unacceptable driving record will disqualify potential candidates. Must be 21 years of age or older upon date of hire. English-Spanish Bilingual candidates preferred. Successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen. Employees are required to follow both State and Federal laws regarding the use of illegal substances.
COMPENSATION: $3,526 - $4,497 Salary plus benefits
